Election Daily (The Guardian)
I produced The Guardian’s Election Daily podcast during the 2017 General Election in the UK. We made it to #1 on Apple’s News & Politics podcast charts!
As it was a *snap* general election, we had to put a podcast together in a very short space of time.
Presented by Owen Jones and Jonathan Freedland - whose politics and views represented two distinct sides of the Guardian readership - the daily podcast ran a tight ship, recording directly after The Guardian’s editorial meeting each morning and uploading by lunchtime. We invited guests in every day from across The Guardian’s own newsroom and beyond. It was an edge-of-your-seat election with many twists and turns - and even a surprise ending.
The podcast was so exciting and rewarding to make, but it was a tough run at times too - and included reacting appropriately to two devastating terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.
My work on Election Daily earned me a nomination for the Best New Producer Award at the 2017 Audio Production Awards.
